Reimagine Medicine: Innovative Program for Duke Pre-Medical Students Accepting Applications for 2019

Reimagine Medicine is now accepting applications for 2019! This innovative program for Duke pre-medical students includes interactive classes in history, ethics, storytelling, visual and performing arts, wellness, and community-building, as well as non-traditional hospital shadowing experiences. The goal is to help aspiring doctors develop the character, compassion, and creativity needed to work effectively and sustainably in contexts of suffering and healing. The program provides housing and $1500 stipend for additional living expenses.

Re-Med 2019 will include a 4-week summer intensive (May 20-June 14, 2019; Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.) and a half-credit course in Fall 2019. Successful applicants will be Duke students in good standing, in their 2nd or 3rd year of study (class of ’20 and ’21), and preparing for careers in medicine. The program is a collaboration of Trent Center for Bioethics, Humanities & History of Medicine, Science and Society, Kenan Institute for Ethics, Duke Divinity School’s Theology, Medicine and Culture and Franklin Humanities Institute’s Health Humanities Lab.
