Maria Surat, 2015-2016
is from Roanoke, VA and pursued undergraduate (B.A. ’12) and graduate study (M.Div. ’15) in theology at the University of Notre Dame. Her experiences as a pastoral care minister in her parish community, as an extended community member of the St. Peter Claver Catholic Worker, and as a staff member with David’s Heart ministry of the Catholic Peace Fellowship have led her to consider the intersection of health care, Christian practice, and theology in human healing. As a TMC Fellow and student (Th.M. ’16), Maria seeks formation as a pastoral care minister who invites Christian communities to consider the gifts and challenges of modern clinical care and who also invites the clinical community to explore the wisdom of Christian approaches to healing through Word and Sacrament.
