Joan Moira Oliver, MHA, BSN, RN, CCDS, ACM

grew up on the outskirts of Wellsville, Ohio and lived in Pennsylvania and New Jersey before moving to Durham in 2010. She has been working at Duke Hospital since 2010, initially as a Case Manager and currently as a Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist. In her role as a documentation specialist, she reads medical records for the Cardiothoracic teams. During her chart readings she likes to send patients and their family’s “blessings” and “well wishes” remotely from behind the screen. She is her 87-year-old mother’s primary caretaker after her mother experienced a stroke last year. In her spare time, she likes to travel, exercise, read and listen to Christian music.
