Christian Ethics Amid COVID-19

Theological ethicists Brett McCarty, Patrick Smith, and Luke Bretherton filmed an impromptu video on March 16th discussing ethics during this time of COVID-19. The Duke Divinity faculty speak about faithful responses to the pandemic informed by Christian ethics. While social distancing may seem to oppose our Christian tradition of tending to the sick, they examine how “love of neighbor might mean social distancing from neighbor at this time”  if you are not a health care provider. Social distancing calls for people to rely more on technological capabilities. As we shift towards using technology to communicate and stay connected, it is important to recognize that not everyone has access or knows how to use the technology. Many crucial questions are raised in this conversation that requires us to push deeper into the love and wisdom of our Christian faith.
